What am I passionate about you ask? I am passionate about God, people, and making this farm become a reflection of his Word. To me that means using every part of the farm to benefit the rest. Now I know that most people aren't as obsessed with sustainability and farming as I am, but it is truly fascinating. You can use WEEDS to create a fertilising spray that will strengthen your plants and the health of your soil. You can create a natural floor in a chicken coop that will never need changing, will never smell, and will actually act as an incubator for baby chicks because of the warmth created by the process of microorganisms eating the chicken's waste. The water drained off rice is used to make fertiliser! And the list is never ending. I have spent hours and hours reading Natural Farming textbooks and I know that I am only just scratching the surface. But the research I do all leads back to the same thought - "How incredible is our God?". He created this world with the ideal for everything to live in harmony. It is no longer that simple, but so many of those principles can be used in our everyday lives.
John and I have made some great friendships in the local organic/natural farming community, and we now have the opportunity to open a co-op shop selling our goods. We are really excited about this opportunity as it is a way to finally sell some of our produce, and to become a voice in the community sharing about chemical free farming. It is still in the baby stages, but we are gathering a group of people and hopefully we can start building the shop area soon. Its kind of daunting, but also really exciting to have this opportunity.
The weather here is still pretty wet, so the farm partially resembles a slip'n'slide. Boots are essential. The kids are doing awesome and we are trying to start some adoption processes with the boys. It looks like it will be a long process as we can only apply to adopt one at a time. However we believe that even act of starting the paperwork will give these kids something real to hold onto during this difficult time of having their lives turned upside down. God is good and has placed great people in our lives willing to help us help these precious kids.
Have an awesome weekend! Love you allllll xo
