We have had a few new additions to the farm these past few months. Ones that should be great for our kids and also for our sustainability. Firstly we bought a pregnant pig called Strawberry. Amazingly the previous owners looked after for for the last week of her pregnancy and also the first 10 days the piglets were born so we didn't have to worry about making any mistakes in that area. Right now we have 12 piglets almost ready to be weaned! We will wean them over the next week and then they will be ready for new homes. We are giving 2 to Lijoo, 2 to Nakong and 2 to Bethany kids home. We are hoping our pigs will be able to be the gifts that keep giving in our local area. We may keep one female on as an extra breeder for when Strawberry gets older.
We are also adding in a few new pig pens to house our breeders and lock them in at night. As in the past we've had pigs escaping and eating chickens at night, we want to be able to lock them up and sleep soundly. Its looking really good and they should be in there within a few days!
The kids are doing well. They are all in school and love playing with their friends, helping out on the farm and playing sports. We would love prayer in relation to parenting kids who have experienced childhood trauma. We know at least one of the boys has reactive attachment disorder, and this can be quite stressful and draining as we struggle to deal with it. I also lose patience very easily - thus the need for a prayer covering. Also pray that someone with experience can come alongside us and help us offer the right therapy so that this doesn't develop into a long term behavioural disorder.
Thanks for your constant support and prayer
