A WALK THROUGH THE LAND
There is a road that goes off the main road to Chiang Mai and straight up into the hills on the way to Doi Chang (famous in Thailand for the coffee grown there). The front of the land borders the road about 5km in. There are not other houses in sight and a large lake about 2 minutes further down the road. Standing at the entrance you are looking at rice paddies nestled in between two small hills. On the right side of the rice there is a small driveway heading up into the land and towards the huts.
As you walk in the hill on the right is quite steep, and would be ideal for a small coffee plantation or maybe banana trees. Up to the left the land reaches to almost the ridge of the hill. That means the fruit trees would be ours and our animals would be able to graze underneath and fertilise the land. When you reach the small huts you hear the idyllic sound of running water. Yes it has its own stream that runs down the side of the rice fields. Right near the stream and mini pond it has two old pig pens. We could possibly fix these up for pregnant sows or use them as nurseries in the future.
Walking up past the huts and veering left we come to a fish pond. If John wasn’t already in love with this land, this corner sealed the deal. The pond is nestled in the valley surrounded by bamboo, banana trees and various other plants often used in Thai cooking. This land would not need much work at all to get it functioning and producing our own produce.
On top of it all, the land is right where I originally prayed for. We have been looking in a 50km radius all around CR – but Mae Lao was in my heart from the very beginning. And God has used a good Christian real estate agent to bring us this land for a decent price. Every time I even think about the land I get a huge smile on my face. Its beyond perfect. Now we listen for God’s voice and hopefully start talking to the owners about a possible payment scheme. So exciting. Like so so so exciting. Its actually out there! The land from my dreams exists. Its taken well over a year to find it – after weekends and weekends of driving around looking at different blocks its here and we are itching to get in and make it our home.
